Donna’s Kidz Sunflower Academy provides care for children 6 weeks through 12 years old, with programs designed to support children at different stages of development. 

We are open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

 We offer:

• Full-time infant, toddler, preschool, Pre-K, and kindergarten-age care 
• Before-school care for ages 5+ 
• After-school care for ages 5+ 
• Drop-in care based on availability 
• Summer programming for ages 3–12

No. Donna’s Kidz Sunflower Academy does not currently provide transportation. Parents and guardians are responsible for transportation to and from school and the academy. 

Yes. Drop-in care is available for $60 per day, based on space availability. Advance notice is preferred, and enrollment priority is given to currently enrolled families. 

Yes. A $75 non-refundable registration fee per child is required at enrollment to reserve your child’s space.

Families must also pay the first week and last week of tuition before care begins.

Families must complete all required enrollment paperwork before their child begins attending.

Required documents include an enrollment application, birth certificate, current immunization records or approved exemption documentation, emergency and medical information, an authorized pickup list, and a signed Parent Handbook Acknowledgment Form.

All tuition and fee payments are made through Brightwheel.

Payments are due each Thursday for the upcoming week of care and must be paid in advance.

Yes! Donna’s Kidz Sunflower Academy participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

Children are provided breakfast, a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack each day.

Outside food and drinks are generally not permitted unless approved by the Director.

Parents should notify the academy in writing of any food allergies, sensitivities, dietary restrictions, or medical dietary needs.

Donna’s Kidz Sunflower Academy is a play-based learning center where children learn through hands-on experiences, exploration, creativity, and meaningful interactions.

We also utilize the Preschool Place curriculum to support development in language and literacy, mathematics, science, social-emotional skills, fine and gross motor skills, and creative expression.

Donna’s Kidz Sunflower Academy is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for children and families. Because every child’s needs are unique, we encourage parents and guardians to contact us to discuss their child’s individual needs and determine how we can best support their care and participation in our program. 

We encourage families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing to contact us to discuss their child’s individual communication and care needs. Our goal is to work in partnership with families to understand each child and determine what support may be appropriate within our program. 

We understand that children learn, communicate, and develop in different ways. Families are encouraged to share information about any accommodations, routines, communication methods, or additional support their child may need. We will work with families to discuss their child’s individual needs and our ability to provide appropriate care in our program. 

No. Donna’s Kidz Sunflower Academy supports children during the potty-training process with regular restroom opportunities, encouragement, and positive reinforcement.

Tuition rates vary for certain age groups based on potty-training status.

Parents should provide pre-made and labeled bottles, diapers and wipes, at least two complete changes of clothing, and any special formula, breast milk, or dietary items their infant requires.

If your child uses a pacifier, it should also be clearly labeled.

Yes. Children ages 1 through 5 have a scheduled nap/rest period from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The academy provides an individual cot or sleeping mat. Parents should provide a blanket for their child.

Parents or guardians will be contacted when a child develops symptoms requiring exclusion from care.

Depending on the illness, children may need to remain home until they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medication and can comfortably participate in normal activities.

Please refer to the Family Handbook for complete illness and return-to-care policies.

Children will only be released to individuals listed on the Authorized Pick-Up Form, unless alternate arrangements have been approved.

Anyone picking up a child may be required to provide valid photo identification.

Donna’s Kidz Sunflower Academy follows Huntsville City Schools' recommendations regarding inclement weather and emergency closings.

Families may receive closure notifications through Brightwheel, mass text message, Facebook, or the center voicemail.

Donna’s Kidz Sunflower Academy does not currently conduct off-site field trips.

No. Donna’s Kidz Sunflower Academy does not have a pool on the premises. The academy may offer supervised water-play activities during warm-weather months with appropriate parental permission and supervision.
